Good morning, welcome to Brisbane Times’ news blog for Thursday, March 27. Today the city can expect rain and a top temperature of 25 degrees.

In local news you need to know:

The exact location of Brisbane’s main Olympic stadium has not been determined, though one thing is certain – it will be somewhere within Victoria Park.

Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority chairman Stephen Conry said on Wednesday the artistic render released when Victoria Park was announced was indicative only.

But the Gabba, one of Australia’s most famous stadiums and not long ago proposed as the centrepiece of a future Olympic and Paralympic Games, is set to be demolished.

And the decision to demolish the Gabba – but not a heritage-listed school – has set the scene for a vast urban renewal project in Brisbane’s inner-south.

Completely submerged after Alfred, Hanlon Park has staged a remarkable recovery, and that resilience could be a sustainable solution for other flood-prone areas.

Plus, a contract extension looms for an unsung Bronco, one of a trio of players poised to transform their careers – and the club’s fortunes – in 2025.
