Detroit Auto Show will feature four showcase ‘activation tracks’

Whether it’s battery electric, hybrid or internal combustion engine propulsion, visitors to next month’s Detroit Auto Show will have four indoor tracks to evaluate vehicle performance.

After a 2024 absence, the show is returning to its winter roots and will be open to the public from Jan. 11 to 20, with 22 brands representing a variety of vehicle segments at downtown Detroit’s Huntington Place.

“Through this blended automaker and dealer participation, we’re able to give attendees a totally immersive experience in some of the most exciting products available on the market today — whether that’s comparing a variety of propulsion systems on one of four tracks, to seeing hundreds of brand-defining vehicles, up-close-and-personal and all in one place,” Detroit Auto Show chairman Karl Zimmermann said.

A broad lineup of nameplates, hybrids and EVs and a mix of cars and trucks will be showcased. Organizers still have additional ultra-luxury and exotic brands to announce.

Among the nameplates having a corporate-sponsor presence are Alfa Romeo, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Ford, GMC, Jeep, Kia, Lincoln, Ram, Toyota and Volkswagen. There will also be dealer-supported vehicle displays representing BMW, Honda, Hyundai, INEOS, Mazda and Mercedes-Benz.

The Gallery collection of ultra-luxury, luxury and exotic vehicles curated from metro Detroit-area dealers also returns.

The four indoor tracks will allow auto enthusiasts the chance to experience first-hand many of the industry’s newest products through participation in ride-along track activations.

Ford Motor Company will take visitors high into the rafters of Huntington Place on the Ford Bronco Built Wild Track, complete with two new obstacles, Rock Crawl and Tilt Ridge.

Jeep is returning with the popular Camp Jeep experiential activation that re-creates an off-roading trail.

The new Detroit Grand Prix-themed track, announced in conjunction with the return of Racing Day presented by the Detroit Grand Prix on Friday, Jan. 17, will incorporate some of the signature elements of the downtown Detroit street circuit while showcasing ICE (internal combustion engine), hybrid and electric vehicles.

On Racing Day, two Chevrolet Corvette E-Rays will be featured on the track.

Visitors can experience riding on the track in a number of brands, including Buick, Ford, Honda, Mazda and Volkswagen.

Attendees can also hop in the passenger seats of EV entries from BMW, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC and Rivian as the Powering Michigan EV Experience track returns.
