Federal election results 2025 LIVE updates: Liberal elders back Ley for leader as Dutton stays silent; Major blow to Greens as leader Bandt set to lose Melbourne; Tight race in key seats

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says Max Chandler-Mather should look to his own actions after the former Greens MP said Albanese was partly responsible for an “awful” culture in question time.
“He should have a good look at the way that he asks questions in the parliament, and maybe what he needs is a mirror and a reflection on why he’s no longer in parliament,” Albanese said in an interview on the ABC’s 7.30.
“I think he should have a look at the way that he conducted himself in question time, including the questions that he asked of me, which I found pretty offensive and some of which were ruled out of order.

“So, I think it’s a bit rich for him, of all people – who has been rejected by his own electorate after just one term, and indeed the seat of Melbourne is very much under a cloud – is the best that you could put it. Adam Bandt hasn’t conceded yet, but it’s very difficult to see a pathway in which he will resume his seat in parliament.”
Chandler-Mather told Triple J’s Hack program earlier in the week that he would not miss parliament after being ousted from his seat of Griffith, calling it “bloody awful” and a “sick place”.
“Can you imagine if you’re in a workplace and you have people in that workplace coming up and just yelling and screaming at you while you’re trying to give a speech … it’s odd,” Chandler-Mather said.
Albanese took a thinly veiled swipe at Chandler-Mather and ousted Liberal housing spokesman Michael Sukkar upon returning to Canberra on Monday, saying that “part of the reason why they’re not in the parliament is that they held up public housing”.
