Girl, 15, killed in single-car collision on Sunshine Coast

Police are investigating after a teenager died and a second was flown to hospital following a crash on the Sunshine Coast on Friday night.

Emergency services were called to Edwards Street at Sunshine Beach about 6.50pm following reports a BMW X5 had collided with two stationary vehicles before rolling.

The car’s three occupants were all from Peregian Beach.

The driver, a 48-year-old woman, was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

One of the passengers, a 17-year-old girl, was flown to the same hospital.

The second passenger, a 15-year-old girl, sustained critical injuries and passed away at the scene.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances around the incident and appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

The relationship between the driver and teens was unknown.
