Whats the drainage like?

G’day Steve.
I don’t have any personal experience. I have not been to the Basin Reserve. It is on the bucket list. Such a beautiful cricket ground.
At the risk of stereotyping New Zealand, I would assume their grounds are good with drainage, considering rain is a little more regular at the Land of the Long White Cloud.
NZ coach says his women cannot relent if an opportunity comes up
New Zealand women’s cricket coach Ben Sawyer has been speaking with broadcaster TVNZ as rain continues to fall in Wellington.
He has recently signed a contract extension after guiding the White Ferns to the T20 World Cup crown.
Now in the Rose Bowl, which New Zealand has not won since 1999, he expects a very tough battle with Australia.
“They’re a really strong team. Even against India, at times they were three or four down for 70 or 80, but you’ve got the likes of Ash Garnder of Georgia Wareham walk in [to bat],” he said.
“Even if you do have them four or five out, you have to keep going.
“You can’t rest at any stage, they’re just going to keep coming at you.”

Ironically, like Brisbane, Wellington is magnificent on a beautiful day.
When it rains? Well, it’s just another wet city I suppose.
Let’s hope we get some cricket today.

What is the Rose Bowl Series?
The Rose Bowl is an ODI series contested in women’s cricket between Australia and New Zealand.
It began in 1985 and Australia has won the lion-share of Rose Bowls.
New Zealand last won a Rose Bowl series in 1999.
Australia won the series in 2000 and have held the trophy since.

Will Alyssa Healy play?

Australia’s captain has missed a bit of cricet recently with injury.
She missed most of the WBBL and did not participate in the ODI series against India.
Tahlia McGrath stood in as captain, but there was belief Healy would suit up in the Rose Bowl.
If she does, she will not be taking the gloves as wicketkeeper.
“I won’t be wicketkeeping this series … but there’s not a lot of cricket leading into the Ashes, so for me, it’s an opportunity to try and get back on the park, as a batter, and try and find some runs more importantly,” Healy told reporters on Wednesday.
“I feel like I’ve hardly played any cricket for the last eight or nine months and there’s a good opportunity to do that.
“The knee’s tracking well, it’s just a day-by-day thing, and we’ll just assess as we go.”
